Peterson Trucks: Your Emissions Expert

With the approval of the Truck and Bus Regulation by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), new emissions standards for in-use on-road heavy-duty diesel vehicles are in effect, with additional compliance deadlines coming soon. From determining your compliance deadlines to helping you report your fleet to the Air Resources Board, Peterson is dedicated both to helping you understand CARB emissions requirements and providing you with the most up-to-date technology for meeting California emission standards.

What is the CARB Truck and Bus Regulation?

Applying to privately and publicly owned diesel trucks with a GVWR of over 14,000 pounds, this regulation required all applicable trucks to be fitted with a particulate matter (PM) filter by January 1, 2012. By the beginning of 2015, older trucks (with a 1995 model year engines or later) must be replaced with newer trucks. By 2023, all trucks in-service will be required to have 2010 model year engines or newer. The regulation is intended to reduce emissions of diesel particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen.
